Pastor Ford Receives Moody
“Alumnus of the Year” Award
CHICAGO – Dr. James Ford Jr., senior pastor of Christ Bible Church in South Shore, has been named “Alumnus of the Year” by Moody Bible Institute.
Pastor Ford, a 1984 graduate of the evangelical Christian college, accepted the prestigious honor in February during the 2017 Moody Founder’s Week conference.
The alumni award recognizes Pastor Ford for demonstrating loyalty to the kingdom of Christ through honorable character, ardent service and accountability to the Word of God.
“Pastor Ford’s life and preaching has had a profound effect on many,” said Nancy Hastings, executive director of the Moody Alumni Association, who presented the annual award.
“Not only does his church benefit from his knowledge, but also the Church at large through his deep, rich voice heard over the radio and through his publishing ministry,” Hastings said.
“I am always amazed by his ability to recall memorized Scripture and the creativity he incorporates into his sermons,” she added. “Our alumni serve the Lord in many ways, and I am inspired by the way Pastor Ford is living out the call of God on his life.”
Pastor Ford began leading Christ Bible Church, formerly South Shore Baptist Church, while still an undergraduate student at Moody.
For more than 35 years, he has edified the body of Christ through his distinguished expository preaching and teaching. Pastor Ford is also president of Impact Ministries, an outreach ministry of Christ Bible Church, committed to strengthening families.
He holds a master’s degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a doctorate of divinity conferred by St. Thomas Christian University in Jacksonville, Fla.
Pastor Ford is a frequent speaker at marriage conferences and the author of six books, including When A Man Loves A Woman and A New Look At An Old Prayer.
