Letting Go of the Weight of the Past

Mar 9, 2025    Pastor Steven Pettis Jr

Many of us carry the weight of our past—memories, regrets, failures, and even past successes—that hold us back from fully walking in God’s purpose. In this sermon, we explore Hebrews 12:1-2 and Philippians 3:13-14, where Scripture calls us to lay aside every weight and press forward toward Christ.

Through biblical examples like Lot’s wife (Genesis 19:26) and the Israelites longing for Egypt (Numbers 14:2-4), we will uncover the dangers of looking back and how holding onto the past can slow our spiritual progress.

Letting go isn’t about losing—it’s about making room for something greater. Join us as we learn how to release the burdens that keep us from running our race with endurance, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith.

If you’ve ever struggled to move on from the past, this message will encourage and challenge you to trust that God’s best is not behind you, but ahead of you.
